The Sony PS Vita launch with AB, etc. Water taxis ferried us to a harbour pontoon for hands-on demos, catering, a bigwig's speech, a ridiculously impressive fireworks display and DJ-ing by the Empire Of The Sun chappy with the headdress.

MERCREDI

Ignored fatigue for Blueju!ce at the Roundhouse. Support act #1 was pretty terrible and #2 was just woeful. Thankfully, the eight-strong B. had more energy in their opener than the previous two sets combined. So hot they glowed.

JEUDI

Heard philosopher Alain De Botton discuss his latest tome, "Religion For Atheists", and answer audience Qs at the Opera House. "Gentle but provoking", the moderator called him. He's quick with a joke, too.

VENDREDI

University orientation, which basically entailed joining clubs. For me - anime, beer, culture, fantasy/sci-fi, film, gaming, Oxfam, Red Cross, UN and vegetarian food (you only have to like it, not be a vego).

SAMEDI

Dinner at AZ's craft-filled abode. She made paella, a funky Spanish salad and dip. We continued a tradition of introducing each other to musical acts - I think we have a new convert to the cult of Steven Wilson :-)

DIMANCHE

The UFC finally returned to Japan (for UFC 144) and it was fab. With 4/9 local fighters victorious and two others lasting the distance, I'm praying that fans there will embrace the company's presence as a chance to resurrect MMA from the doldrums in their country.
