* "Holy Spider" (2022) [Kanopy]: Iranian. BRUTALLY confronting true serial-killer hunt.

* "How To Blow Up A Pipeline" (2022) [Kanopy]: I was cheering for these uncompromising ecowarriors. AND: Interrogates its characters. Properly thrilling. Future classic.

* "Lift" (2024) [Netflix]: NFT plot device immediately put me offside. BUT: Quite fun team-of-specialists heist extravaganza. ALSO: Kevin Hart's best work, in my opinion.

* "The Abandoned" (2022) [Netfix]: Stylishly shot, punch-packing Taiwanese police procedural.

* "The Creator" (2023) [Disney+]: Big budget, visuals, ideas, emotions. Big winner.

<<< Pick of the bunch is "The Creator". >>>

* "Evil Dead Rise" (2023) [Netflix]: Too random. Lacking in humour. Satisfactory finale.
* "In The Court Of The Crimson King" (2022) [Kanopy]: Much eccentricity, some tragedy, not enough music.
* "Renfield" (2023) [Netflix]: Charismatic leads elevate campy, extremely gory actioner.
* "Shangri-La - Paradise Under Construction" (2022) [Kanopy]: Dutch. Fictional city's "discovery" triggers spiralling investigation.
* "The Mill" (2023) [Disney+]: Corporate scifi nightmare. Occasionally drags, finishes strong.

Tried to watch "Rebel Moon". Quickly bailed. Mind-numbingly boring.

<<< Pick of the bunch is "Renfield". >>>

While I'm at it...

Not-so-recent viewing

Got sidetracked by three cooking-contest reality shows. And Korean series "Jump Like A Witch", in which not particularly athletic lady celebs are moulded into a competitive basketball team - over the equivalent of 14 movies! And sports and other stuff.

* "Margaux" (2022) [Netflix]: Really comits (overcomits?) to killer-smarthome premise.
* "Shazam - Fury Of The Gods" (2023) [Netflix]: Likable mess. Some "Potter" vibes. Superb dragon.
* "Shin Ultraman" (2022) [Apple Store rental]: Fan ultraservice. Character designs/movement/alien-ness magnificent.
* "The Man Who Stole The Scream" (2023) [ABC iview]: Fascinating central figure. Twisty, turny, terrific, true.
* "Theater Camp" (2023) [Disney+]: Loving pisstake made me laugh and laugh.
