"A Quiet Place, Part II": Superb. (I don't need the other six.)
"Catwoman - Hunted": Badass kitty scores with jazzy, fiend-tastic anime.
"Crimes Of The Future": Cronenberg's vision still DEEPLY wacky and disturbing. OR: "Crash", but surgery instead of fender benders.
"Official Competition": Spanish auteur satire builds cleverly, goes dark.
"The Last Tourist": Poignant plea to tread softly on vacation.
"The Menu": The best movie I've seen this year.
"Yaksha - Ruthless Operations": Korean espionage overdoes it in every department.

"Barbarian": Dark underside of Airbnb and WAY beyond.

"For The Love Of Spock": Takes a legend to make a legend.

"Hellraiser": Effective reboot. Ignore the overly harsh reviews.

"Lightyear": Toy's origin story visually wowing, moderately entertaining.

"The Hitman's Bodyguard": Absurd, amusing, ultraviolent, scenic, chase-filled actioner.

"(The) Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard": Better in some ways, worse in others. *OR* Love interest from first film never mentioned.

Chicken-flavoured instant noodle reviews - Part 3

See also >>> Apr. 24, 2022 / Jun. 20, 2021.

Brand: Mama Cup Chicken Flavour

Energy: 1278kJ

Fat: 11.3g

Sodium: 1350mg

Comments: Made in Thailand. Initially, the flavour seemed mild. It soon got stronger – pleasantly salty-spicy without being particularly chicken-y. There were lotsa flecks of carrot and cabbage, which I always like. Not the best actual noodles (rubbery), but I was sorry when the cup was empty.

Brand: Gefen Ramen Noodles Oriental Style Imitation Chicken

Energy: 1640kJ

Fat: 17g

Sodium: 1337mg

Comments: Made in Singapore for the US market, these are my pal RS’s fave. The flavourings include onion, pepper, ginger, turmeric, caramel and garlic! I found the noodles to be of a pretty average quality, if substantial enough. Where this brand shined was the superior soup. Would have again.

Brand: Supreme Noodles Chicken Flavour Noodle Cup

Energy: 1410kJ

Fat: 13.7g

Sodium: 1610mg

Comments: Made in Australia, surprisingly. The powder was a scarily yellow colour. Nice thin, soft noodles. No veg whatsoever. The soup didn’t taste overly salty. It was easy to eat. Howevs, I felt a little “unhealthy” later, with a possible explanation being the fact the ingredients list MSG twice!

Heart Strings IX

From top to bottom:

* Amber Midthunder in "Prey" (2022), best movie in the "Predator" franchise.

* Cosplay star Shirogane-Sama as Yoimiya from RPG "Genshin Impact".

* Jemma Moore in 2018's "Dragon Kingdom" aka "The Dark Kingdom".

* Model Ashlynne Dae as a Goth cupid. An original creation? Either way, fab.

* Undisputed UFC champ Valentina Shevchenko in Kyrgyzstani trad dress.

"Dead Man's Kit": Sexism aside, a solid Navy-centred thriller.

"Fantastic Beasts - The Secrets Of Dumblesnore": Boring. P.S. - Trans rights are human rights.

"Glass Onion": Spectacle, excessive backtracking. Guessed culprit halfway through.

"Iron Mask": Big Chinese-Russian historical fantasy action mess.

"Jurassic World - Dominion": Old faces, new CGI, epic(ally obvious) plot.

"Kickback": How, why FIFA's rotten to the core.

"Maigret": A pitiful case told with some subtlety.

"Saving Venice": 80+ minutes so it counts. Current, fascinating!

Awks

Ever been walking along a city street with a friend and have a person come up and call them by a name you don't recognise? I have. It's disconcerting to say the least.

Was thinking about awkward, "imperfect information" situations like this earlier today.

Another time, in high school, I went to a mini-golf place with a mate to play the arcade machine "Sinistar". The dude behind the counter started talking to him about an incident that had occurred there and asking how much trouble he'd gotten into with the police. My buddy had never mentioned it.

When I reflect, there were several of these sitches in my yoof, where you suddenly realise there's major shiz you don't know about. Some I won't recount. I'll list one more...

Ever discovered much later that a gift you valued and used a lot - in my case, a pair of Smiths albums - weren't bought or even shoplifted, but were stolen from a stranger? :-(
